I was scrolling Facebook recently when I came across a post from Pocomoke Athletics. It was a call for the community to help from athletic trainer Mrs. Baker. See the post below
“Our athletes will be returning to the fields/ courts in just a few short weeks. It is so important for our athletes to prevent injury and focusing on recovery helps us achieve that goal. Many athletes use kinesiotape for short term use during the early stages of injury recovery. For some athletes, kinesiotape is used to help with pain and reduce inflammation. Unfortunately, we do not have the budget to purchase this specialty tape for our athletes. The Reathlete recovery system will also help us offer a recovery option after workouts. With limited budgets it us difficult to include these items for our dedicated student-athletes.”
“Over seventy-five percent of our athletes come from low income households where their families do not have the resources to purchase this tape, or recovery units for their athletics.”
“This project will allow us to supply our athletes with kinesiotape and a Reathlete system when needed and will fill a need that our budgeted dollars can not. These supplies will be used for track, cross-country, volleyball, basketball, softball, tennis, baseball, field hockey, golf, and soccer.”
It’s sad when budgets are cut for services essential to the health and well being of student athletes. This doesn’t sit well with me, so I’m asking for your help. Just a small donation to this worthy cause would be a HUGE help. I’m going to make a donation today, would YOU? The link to the giving website is below if you feel led to donate. Thank you in advance for your support to our community. – Adam
